Have you heard the term, Instagram Shoutouts before? If not you should keep reading and take note as this new marketing strategy works wonders. Instagram Shoutouts is when you find someone with thousands of followers and then pay to have your advert, text link or instagram promoted to all their followers. Sounds simple right? It is an here’s how to get in on the action.
Websites are popping up all over the place offering Instagram Shoutouts on Instagram pages from a couple hundred followers to over 1 million followers and until recently I’d never even heard the term but after a little investigation and ordering my first shoutout I can say I 100% recommend this form of marketing.
Instagram, for those that don’t know is a social network where you can only share photos to your page which are then shown in any of your followers news feeds or if someone searches for a keyword you’ve tagged in your photo. Some of the biggest Instagram accounts include rich playboy Dan Bilzerian with his 5 million followers, Emirates Airline with their 1 million followers and ofcourse all the big brands are there too.
That’s when I stumbled across websites such as Shoutcart, ShoutoutOffice, BuyAShoutout and MediaPhantom – all these sites offer the ability to buy a post on someone else’s (popular) page and drive traffic to your website. Fees start as little as $10 for a couple thousand followers up to 900 for accounts with 8 million followers.
I chose to use Shoutcart.com and below is some of their Instagram accounts and prices.
So you can then navigate through all the vendors offering their accounts for posts and shoutouts.
Here’s one for $100 that is likely to be seen by a fair few users out of the 529,000 followers. Unfortunately most of the big accounts require you to have an established site – which isn’t too helpful especially if you want to blast an affiliate offer.
You can find smaller vendors (i.e. individuals) willing to promote any company, for example here’s one.
The seller above claims that you’ll get on average 25k likes for your post so lets say 10% of those clicked through to view your page. That’s 2,500 visitors which could then potentially like your page, go on to buy your product or share with their friends.
This technique seems to work well when promoting clothing or health products. For example I promoted a set of womens sports tights on a page that had 2 million followers. The total cost came to $200 for a 12 hour post. During that time I ended up with 25,000 new followers on my womens running clothes Instagram account and 1000 people had clicked through to my website resulting in 50 sales. The sale value was around $25 profit per sale so my campaign was profitable and the followers I gained allow me to promote again for free this time :).
If your thinking of getting on board with Instagram Shoutouts then I 100% recommend you do so.
