Can Kevin Zhang teach you how to start a dropshipping empire? This self-made millionaire has been featured on Forbes (not really), Yahoo Finance, MSNBC and AffiliateWorld Asia, and has recently launched a course called eCommerce Millionaire Mastery. Today I'll be looking at what you get and whether it's worth $1997.
Kevin claims he will show you how he generates $20 million dollars working only 1 hour per day. It sounds amazing, but is it really that easy or is it a scam?
I bought the eCommerce Millionaire Mastery course with my own money to give you an insight into what you get.
What is eCommerce Millionaire Mastery?
This is basically an eCommerce course with a focus on dropshipping. This is when you sell products on your own online store that you never physically purchase, until someone buys them from you.
The course doesn't specifically show you how to dropship like a pro, but is more of a starter guide on starting an eCommerce store, running ads, getting sales and automating your business.

Who is Kevin Zhang?
Kevin is a member of Forbes Councils and has started numerous eCommerce businesses. Unlike many guru's who start their own courses, Kevin actually owns his own stores.
Forbes councils costs $2,500 a year, and anyone can signup if they get an invite. Kevin never featured in Forbes magazine. I couldn't find any issues where he was. It looks like he photo shopped his face onto the cover.
All his stores we could find are now shut or have closed down. Some of these include:
- Newport Apparel
- Dixon Leather
- Dixon Trading
- Valor Drones
- Grizzle Tactical
- Long Horn Leather.
Most have been featured on Better Business Bureau with a raft of negative feedbacks. You can go and check them out yourself here.
He claims to have sold products to over 300,000 consumers in 20 countries, generating over $30 million dollars in sales. Primarily he has stores that sell clothing and accessories under Kreator eCommerce group, that he claims employs a team of 60 staff members.
Kevin Zhang is based in Los Angeles, California and apparently has a large net worth. Over on Instagram he shows you all about his life including his investments and education packages including KevinZhang.com
It's clear that Kevin owns eCommerce stores so learning from him might be a great opportunity but why are his stores all shut down?
Kevin operates his own Youtube channel but has only posted 10 times in 2 months. He has a small following of 7,000 subscribers, but gives away a lot of free value on his channel.

eCommerce Millionaire Mastery Review
There are many ads running on Instagram and Facebook promotion his free webinar. After you go through this you're invited to his main offer which has various price points, most common is $1997.
You can also buy for five payments of $499 which makes it $495 more expensive.
It's promoted as EMM by Kevin Zhang.
The course is hosted on Teachable which means videos look and feel amazing on all devices from mobile, tablet and desktop. Videos are short and snappy and are filmed in a decent HD quality.
The course is laid out in 15 modules and over 200 lessons which is over 30 hours of content. Most videos are around 10-20 minutes in length. There's no boring drawn out topics.
You also get access to an exclusive Facebook group and 52 live calls every year. Additionally there's bonuses on CBO which is Facebook's algorithm (he has a free 45 minute example on his Youtube channel) and insights into his own business. Lastly there's a customer support supplier negotiation script in Chinese and legal templates.
Kevin Zhang claims his course is worth $37,500 in value...it's not.
Does Dropshipping Still Work In 2020?
Absolutely, dropshipping isn't going anywhere and is still one of the most lucrative ways to make money online. You can start your own business fast, without worrying about holding inventory.
Most major retailers such as Walmart, BestBuy and BHPhotoVideo actually dropship their products if you purchase via their online stores.
Anyone who tells you dropshipping is dead, often has an alternative such as local lead gen, affiliate marketing or another get rich quick scheme, so don't believe their hype.
Kevin Zhang Course Content
The eCom Millionaire course is split up into various topics covering, Shopify web site design, Facebook ads, sales strategies, SMS marketing, product research, A/B testing, customer support, scaling and automation.
Module 1: Introduction
The course starts with an introduction to the course and what you can expect. This is followed by videos on having the right Entrepreneurial mindset and how to get excited about eCommerce.
You'll learn how to get the right mindset for eCommerce as well as how you can use dropshipping to get into the eCommerce game with minimal upfront investment.
Lastly you're shown other options aside from dropshipping such as private label products or even print on demand. While these topics aren't covered in the course, you can study further should you wish.
Module 2: Branded Niche Dropshipping
This module looks at different approaches to eCommerce, there's the single product store which is good for beginners who have a proven successful product, or there's the general store for those just starting out and want to test a range of different products.
There's no videos on building a brand at the start, this comes at the end of this module. You'll see why he structures this as you work through the lessons.
The other 12 lessons in module 2 look at the current state of drop shipping in 2020, as well as how to setup a Shopify store using the 14 day free trial link. You'll then connect Oberlo and Aliexpress together.
Kevin makes it clear that you don't need to use Aliexpress and there's some alternatives. Salehoo is a good place to find suppliers especially if you're in the US, UK, CA or Australia.
You then learn how to find suitable products. I have to say the product research section was incredibly short, in my opinion this is the most important part of dropshipping, but Kevin spent 11 minutes on Niche selection.
Module 2 then goes on to show you how to import products from Alixpress into your store, and how to link your Aliexpress affiliate code with Admitad to earn up to 8% cashback on all sales.
The final video looks at how the path from dropshipping to a brand should work. A fairly interesting module, just lacking on the most important aspect, product research, how to find winning products and what to avoid.
Module 3: Consumer Psychology
This was a short module with only 4 videos and included videos on the importance of understanding consumer psychology as well as the four pillars of consumer psychology.
You then learn how to master target-conscious acquisition and understanding the three types of buyers. It was pretty interesting and I hadn't seen this in other courses.
Lastly there was a video called the five golden steps to generating sales which was fairly obvious.
Module 4: Shopify Web Design
This is one of the longer modules in the course and included 18 videos on going through and setting up your Shopify store properly. There's similar advice on Youtube for free that covers the exact same content.
You learn how to use Adobe Photoshop and using stock photo sites for creatives for your ads and product images. You'll learn how to choose a domain name for you store, register this and link it to your Shopify account.
You then go through the process of turning Aliexpress images into engaging product photos and complementing these with compelling product descriptions.
Kevin Zhang then goes on to show you how to setup your eCommerce store with trust badges, using multiple tabs, adding videos to product pages, adding photo reviews by an app, as well as adding a one click upsell plugin.
I felt the videos were a bit crisscross, for example there were lessons in here about choosing a Shopify plan, navigating a theme and using the app store. These would be better at the start of the module.
The last section is about setting up your cross sells and upsells to increase your average cart value.
Module 5: Shopify Web Design Mastery
This module goes deeper into theme customization and recommends using the District Shopify theme which can be edited further. This theme costs $160, which is quite expensive when there are free alternatives out there.
Regardless it's up to you which theme you use. You then get step-by-step videos on logo creation, banner creation, category pictures creation and these are all shown with full website build examples.
You will learn how to setup homepage collections, organizing specific products within collections and how to build a store from scratch.
Kevin goes on to show you how to use another theme called Prestige theme which he repeats all the videos above again for this other theme. Again this theme is premium and costs $180.
You will learn how to add a tracking page to your eCommerce website, as well as the essential pages such as terms and conditions, privacy policy and contact information. You also learn how to update the footer and add relevant info to this section.
Kevin Zhang uses Wheelio to increase conversion rates by offering a discount in exchange for an email address. Visitors spin the wheel of fortune for a chance of winning a rigged discount code. You set the outcome.
Lastly this section included guidance on using Shopify's bulk product editor and how to make your website load faster, which can be difficult when installing all those third party plugins. A theme that comes with all those plugins can make your site load faster.
Module 6: Setting up Facebook Ads
eCommerce Millionaire Mastery only offers one traffic source, Facebook Ads. However Kevin goes into a lot of detail on this and it's clear he knows his stuff.
However as I'll reveal later, it's an expensive traffic source for beginners and can take a lot of trial and error.
Module 6 starts with guidance on setting up your Facebook account and creating a business manager account which is used for managing your ads.
You'll learn how to setup a Facebook page which is used to display the ads. You'll also learn about the Facebook pixel and how to create and install on your eCom store.
Lastly there's a video on using Trackify for easy catalogs and backup pixels.
Module 7: Engaging & Profitable Ads
This is the longest module in the course and starts with an introduction to Facebook Ads followed by a long video on the components of Facebook Ads. This is followed by how to create an effective Facebook creative, by looking into real life examples and learning the key characteristics.
You'll learn how to make effective advertisements from still images, slideshows and video ads. There's no hiding away here, Kevin has given real life examples for each including a step-by-step creation for them as well.
You'll also learn how to create a carousel advertisement which is detailed and shows you how to create best sellers, product angles and video carousels, again with real life examples and step by step guidance.
There's an express video on how to create an Advertisement step-by-step in under 30 minutes.
Finally you'll learn the best way to write effective copy. I felt this video was too short and could have been longer. You'll learn how to add emoji's to your ads.
The module 7 concludes with a long video on putting everything together with again you got it, real life examples. It's clear Kevin Zhang wants to give you as much real life exposure, while other guru's like to hide their exact ads, probably because they don't exist!
Module 8: Basic Facebook Ad Strategy
Once you've got your Advertisements, you'll want to learn how to use it correctly. Kevin goes through the magic behind Facebook Advertising and the principles you need to follow.
You'll learn about the three audiences on Facebook, before going on to launch your Facebook Ads.
You will learn about retargeting campaigns and how these can be very beneficial in your business.
You will learn all there is to know about data analysis and improving performance as well as making sense of performance metrics such as ROAS and cost per purchase.
Learning all there is know about these metrics will help you to evaluate your ROAS and losing so you can win. You'll also learn how to use these to create look alike audiences after 100 recorded purchases.
You will learn how to use Trackify to make LAAs and Hidden LAAs. I was interested to see how Kevin recommends you market to foreign countries.
Manual bidding also gets a mention in this course, although fairly short. I was interested to see the long video on solving Ad fatigue, audience and product fatigue.
The module concludes with videos on exporting emails of customers and creating custom audiences. You will also learn how to find specific interests for testing.
Module 9: Advanced Facebook Ads
If you're across the basics, it's now time for the advanced strategies which focuses on Campaign Budget Optimization which is more commonly referred to by social media marketing experts as CBO.
You'll learn how to setup a CBO and how to do effective audience testing, creative testing and LAA testing. These are all apart of what Kevin refers to as CBO strategies.
You'll learn about his concentrated, king broad, fools gold, crowd out, squeeze, broad manual and Volatility methods which are all in-house recommendations and suggestions. There's hours upon hours of content here.
Lastly there's an advanced re-targeting method as well as making use of advanced Facebook Ad manager features.
Module 10: Effective Sales Strategies
This module looks at how to leverage order metrics in your basic accounting. You will learn the advantages and when to use a subscription-based model. You will also learn how to use product bundles and when to use a free plus shipping model.
Lastly there's a short video on using sales and when to apply these across your store.
Module 11: High ROI Email & SMS Marketing
There's a fairly short overview on email marketing and how to set this up for high ROAS by blasting an email out to customers. You will learn how to setup a formula for automated email flows.
Lastly there's a section on using SMS marketing which may not work for international buyers.
Module 12: Multivariate Testing, A/B & Heat Maps
This module included three videos on using A/B split testing to increase your conversion rates. It also looked at using multivariate testing as well as implementing heat maps to your site to watch customers interact with your site, product pages and checkout process.
Module 13: Bulletproof Customer Support
This module gives you an insight into how Kevin manages his own businesses by setting up a high level of customer support. This can help with avoiding customer refund disputes or chargebacks, as well as improving your customer experience post-purchase.
You'll learn how to handle returns and exchanges using a 3rd party provider. You'll also learn how to draft the right policies that are both ethical and legal. You will get scripts on how to deal with upset or annoyed customers.
Lastly there's videos on setting up and integrating a Zendesk ticketing system for optimal support. This is accompanied by a video on G-suite and how to get a phone number for your business.
Module 14: Keeping Business Alive
Nearing the end of the course this module specifically looks at keeping your business alive and well and avoiding cashflow issues. You'll learn how to form your business entity correctly.
There's a video around state tax which was pretty short, in effect if you're unsure you should speak with an accountant or tax adviser, rather than listening to someone on the internet.
You'll learn how Facebook IP infringements and staying above the rules. You will learn how to retrieve a banned FB account and there's scripts you can download to follow in doing this.
You'll learn how to protect your own products from copy cat dropshippers out to steal your products. You'll also learn how to report them to Shopify and Facebook.
There's videos on dealing with the BBB and watchdog groups, especially if you're a large store you'll likely have to respond to such claims. You'll learn how to comply with FTC laws and deal with payment processor disputes.
Module 15: Building Advanced Infrastructure
This last module looks at automating your infrastructure so you can focus on building other stores. It starts with finding and hiring the right team members for your business.
You'll be able to use Upwork and Fiverr to outsource projects and automate most tasks.
This then goes on to provide videos on working with suppliers on Aliexpress and negotiating with them in Chinese to get the best deals. You'll get scripts to give them on speeding up delivery times and product qualities.
Finally there's guidance on diversifying your suppliers.
Kevin Zhang Shopify Stores
One thing I like to do when reviewing guru's courses is to look for any eCommerce stores they actually own. Kevin claims to own numerous stores under Kreator commerce group so I had a look for this company. This turns out to be a consulting company so didn't reveal too much other than that they work with brands.
As you saw above, the stores I did find are all shut and have many BBB reports.
Other companies he works with include eCommerce Incubator, Seer eCommerce and Vanderbilt Consulting Academy. I was unable to find any of his actual stores.
Course Pros
- The course offers a lot of content beneficial to beginners and intermediates
- It covers a complete A-to-Z on starting your eCommerce store
- The Facebook Ads section is huge and offers 2020 specific topics
- There's many lessons on conversion rate optimization and CBO strategies
Course Cons
- There is only one traffic source, Facebook Ads which can be expensive
- There's absolutely no product research, finding products or guidance
- There's no real guidance on how to dropship, only buy products
- The price is very expensive, especially given the current economic situation.
What’s Missing In The Course?
In my opinion a beginner needs to know about more than one traffic source. While Facebook Ads is very popular, this brings with it expensive ad costs, which can be expensive for a beginner just starting out.
Ultimately you need money to spend on ads, on top of the $1997 course. This could be $500 - $1000 just to get started. Having additional traffic sources could help beginners look into alternatives.
Other courses usually include training on Google Ads, Google Shopping, Snapchat Ads, Instagram Ads, Twitter, LinkedIn, Organic SEO and Native Ads. It wouldn't be hard for Kevin to add these topics. If you want to learn about these topics you'll need another course or further training.
Product research was also missing in the course. This is probably the most important part to starting a business. Most guru's say you're one product away from financial freedom and they are true, but Kevin didn't provide much guidance on finding one. There's tools and websites out there that can help.
Lastly, a real life case study of one of Kevin's stores would be beneficial. One of the ones where he makes $20 million like the sales pitch for the course. This would add credibility to the course and show us a real life example of a store that is killing it!
Kevin Zhang Student Success Stories
There's many success stories out there. One such student replicated an example of an MMA page that Kevin posted on his Youtube video and claimed to have made $250,000 in revenue in his first month.
But there's equal number of negative reviews on Trustpilot.
Others inside the Facebook group for the course also have positive comments to say about this course. A trustpilot page was setup and has a few 1 star reviews, mostly concerning the price vs value. There is however lots of positive reviews as well claiming the course is fire!!
Money Back Guarantee
Kevin Zhang course comes with a 7 day money back guarantee. If eCom millionaire mastery doesn't meet your expectations you can get a full refund if you submit your request within 7 days of joining. After reading the terms and conditions I couldn't find any conditional requirements to claim this refund.
But is this being honoured? According to this email we received, no. Be wary.
Kevin Zhang Discount Coupon Code
Before purchasing the course I looked for any special offer, discount code, coupon code or cashback but I was unable to find anything.
That means any site claiming to offer such a deal if probably trying to scam you. I would avoid any site claiming to offer 50% discount, 75% discount or anything else.
EMM by Kevin Zhang Final Verdict
This course is a great starter course for beginners but it's not worth the money! Advanced users will definitely enjoy the CBO section but Kevin recently offered a similar free video on his Youtube channel. There's only one traffic source which is disappointing given the high price of $1997.
However, if I was buying into Kevin Zhang and his brand, this is a great course. But there are numerous reports of his stores being closed, selling fake leather etc.
Plus, the price of the course in the current economic situation is crazy. If you've got that kind of cash to burn on a digital training course, great! But most of us don't, and if that's you, there's plenty of similar courses out there that teach the exact same thing at 10% of the price.
Can you become a millionaire with eCommerce? Of course you can, but it takes hard work and determination and Kevin has many businesses, it will be interesting to see the level of support you receive during the 52 weeks of live coaching each week. This is not 1-2-1 coaching or consulting though.
eCom Elites (read review) by Franklin Hatchett is definitely a course you should consider, it's got all the same topics with the addition of all those missing topics such as Google, Twitter, Instagram and of course product research.
Currently there's a deal on, be sure to check it out.
