eComEmailAcademy is a step-by-step email marketing playbook for e-commerce marketers and is a step-by-step course that will claims it will help you to understand email marketing and turn it into a customer nurturing return on investment turning machine.
This course due to be launched on the 19th of September, includes 10 modules, which include 57 video lessons across eight hours of video.
Today I’ll be giving you my eCom Email Academy review and ultimately whether I recommend it.
What is eCom Email Academy?
Additionally to the course content, you will get a 11 downloadable checklists, eight quizzes, 30 pages of case studies, and if you complete the course, you will get a fake email marketing certification.
The course claims to be for e-commerce founders and CEOs, email marketers, directors, marketing VP’s as well as agencies. If you know nothing about email marketing, this is probably the course for you as you do get a lot of content on the entire world of email marketing in an eCommerce aspect.
The course currently costs $247 which is a one time payment and provides unlimited access to the course as well as future updates.
You can purchase the course with PayPal or credit card and there will be lots of affiliates promoting this course because it is.
Who is Jimmy Kim?
The course is created by Jimmy Kim, who is a well-renowned instructor and creator of digital products. He claims his goal is to educate thousands of e-commerce marketers with a playbook that they can use in their own company to generate more return on investment through the use of email marketing.
Jimmy Kim is well-renowned for launching courses using the platform of warrior plus and JVZoo.
It’s highly unlikely anyone who actually works for a large company is going to purchase this course. It’s going to be more of an impulse buy for eCommerce store owners who are not making much money yet or are struggling to make money with social media ads or search engine ads.
The sales page for the course provides a lot of information. It’s a typical sales page for a digital product created for a one time product launch. It provides a lot of hype as well as insights into who Jimmy Kim actually is.
For those of you that don’t know, he also owns a business called Sendlane which is an email marketing platform for sending out client emails.
It’s probably fair to say that the course is going to recommend using sendlane for handling the emails. However, if you’re using any other email platform, you can still get value from the course.
What’s Included In The Course?
Aside from the 57 video lessons and checklists that I mentioned earlier, you get to act two hours of expert interviews from top e-commerce marketers.
Additionally to this, you get an automation funnel, which will be built out from start to finish. You will be able to watch this video and implement this for your own campaigns. You get access to printable checklists, which will allow you to keep your email strategy on track as you apply the course to your own marketing efforts.
There is also 30 pages of case studies of how brands such as Starbucks and Tom’s leverage email marketing.
eCom Email Academy Review
The course itself is built on teachable, which means that the videos look and feel great on any platform that you are using, such as mobile, desktop or even a tablet.
On the left hand side, you can scroll through the videos and then you can also complete videos across the top or return to the previous video.
On the top left hand side of the screen is a percentage completion which will allow you to keep track of videos you’ve watched, and once you’ve completed 100% of the course, you will get access to your certificate.
I will now be going through the course in detail, providing a run down of the step by step modules and what you can expect from e-Com Email Academy.
Consider: Best eCommerce Courses
Module 1. Introduction
Module one provides an introduction to the course and a breakdown of each module and what you can expect in the coming modules.
There is a video from, Jimmy Kim himself, who is your instructor in this course, and he will give you a overview on what you can expect.
Module 2. Email Marketing vs Automation
Module two looks at email marketing versus automation and includes the core differences between email marketing and automation.
There are videos including email and website tracking, single channel versus cross channel marketing as well as revenue action and event attribution's.
One of the standout videos here was the goals of marketing automation and solving your business needs.
This module included eight video lessons, which were 42 minutes in total, and also included a final quiz at the end of the module, which you need to pass in order to get your downloadable certificate.
Module 3. Introduction Again
Module three was an introduction to email marketing and the goal of email marketing. This included videos such as different ways to collect emails, mass emailing, as well as sending out automated email sequences.
You will learn UTM and how this can benefit your tracking as well as goals and actions.
Additionally to this, there is videos on understanding and analyzing your data as well as sending and best practices. This module included nine videos or 48 minutes.
Module 4. Content & Copy
Module number four looked at content marketing via email, as well as sender names and emails. Some of the interesting topics that I learnt in this module where the power of subject lines creating the perfect message call to actions.

But it covered topics such as drip campaigns, surveys, coupons, loyalties and rewards, as well as product releases and launches, followed by a video on the best practices for of these.
This module was 45 minutes and included nine video lessons and a final quiz.
Module 8. Event Based Marketing
Module eight was event based marketing and shows you what is event based marketing. The goals and advantages, as well as how event based marketing can be used in your eCommerce business.
There were videos on setting goals and automation funnels.
Again, this was a very short module with only 30 minutes of content across six video lessons and three checklists.
Module 9. Email Marketing Funnels
Module number nine, looked at email marketing funnels and provided a deep dive into automation to support marketing efforts.
Through automated funnels, you will learn how to build out your own sales funnel with data driven marketing focus, as well as behavior based marketing.
This was a very interesting module and included nine video lessons, across 52 minutes of content.
Module 10. Wrapping Up
Module 10 looked at a wrapping it all up and ensuring that you receive your formal certification after completing the final quiz, which tests your knowledge throughout the course.
Jimmy Kim claims that the value of the certificate for completing the course is $497 however, this is all self-rated bullshit.
Additionally, you get access to the three modules, which I mentioned earlier, which include the downloadable checklists, which looked fairly flashed given that they've got the pink and purple color scheme.
Additionally, there are three interviews. The video quality was fairly decent, and these are about 30 minutes each in length.
Additionally, there were the three major brands included in the case studies. This is 30 pages in total with an average of 10 pages per case study.
The certified e-commerce email marketer certificate. I'm not sure what the purpose of the template is other than your own self achievement.
It's highly unlikely that anyone in any professional capacity is going to know what e-commerce email Academy actually is.
Why Buy eCom Email Academy?
If you are struggling with email marketing, then this course does provide a basic overview into the world of email marketing, a cross different topics.
I personally think that the sales page provides lots of facts and outrageous claims about return on investment, but the actual course itself doesn't show you really anything on how to actually achieve it.
Ultimately, anyone can create an email marketing course providing insights and training on the basic aspect of email marketing.
However, if someone's going to tell you that you can improve your ROI with email marketing, but then actually doesn't show you how to actually do that with a step by step guide in the course, then ultimately, what is the point of purchasing the course.
There is a ton of free information out on the internet on email marketing. There are other courses out there that are much cheaper than this that provide the exact same content.
So ultimately, what are you purchasing here? Jimmy Kim is not providing one-to-one support. You are not getting access to a Facebook group with other members where you can discuss the course.
You are getting access to a 10 module training course, which is fairly limited in content, and in return you're getting a certificate that actually has no bearing on any of your future jobs or anything like that. For the price of $247 I would much rather look at different courses in the market.
The course claims to have no upsells or additional costs and is 100% agnostic.
However, in the course that you send lane, which is Jimmy Kim's company, and they recommend that you use this platform, however, you can use your current provider.
If you're someone that likes to follow along, then unfortunately you're going to have to sign up for send line, which is just putting more money back in the pockets of Jimmy Kim.
