eCom Elites Module 5

Summary


This is a module in the eCom Elites course called Module 5, Email Marketing. This module provides an introduction into collecting emails on your store, sending those leads/customers emails to get more sales and then sending an email flow for future sales. 


This training has been updated for 2019 and includes 12 videos on the entire process using various premium email marketing tools that you can use alongside Shopify.

Video 1: Email Marketing Intro (Start Here)


The first video in this training series is an overview into what email marketing is and how it can benefit your eCommerce business. It mainly focuses on flows, which will become an important feature in other videos below.


Franklin recommends using ContactFlow which is a SaaS package for managing email flows and a free plugin from the Shopify app store which you'll learn about if you buy the course.

Video 2: Collecting Emails On Your Store


This video looks at that free Shopify plugin from the app store. To keep the course valuable for everyone I won't be revealing what this app is called but it will allow you to collect emails via your store and through the cart page should anyone abandon checkout without paying. 

I haven't seen many other courses using the same platform, so it seems to be unique to Franklin.

Video 3: Sending Emails From Store


Video 3 follows on from the previous video and actually shows you how to draft and deploy your first email campaign and how to send these out to potential customers/existing customers from your Shopify store. 


There are scripts you can use for your own campaigns too, very handy.

Video 4: Advanced Email Marketing Intro


Drill down on your email marketing campaigns and find out the lifetime value, open rates, click rates, unsubscribe rates and total email sales generated from your emails sent out. Franklin shows you how to track all this. 

You can track specific sales from specific customers too, very good video.

Video 5: Connect To Shopify Store


A simple 3 minute video shows you how to link everything together with your Shopify store. It's very straight forward and anyone can do this with a few steps. Hatchett shows you the entire process.

Video 6: Install Contact Flow Pixel


Want to track all those special features mentioned in video 4? Well you'll need to add the Contact Flow pixel to your store which is very similar to Facebook or Google pixel which we covered earlier in the course. 


Franklin shows you via the screen where to place the pixel on all Shopify pages and ensure it's working.

Video 7: Default Email Tag


By adding tags you can route different emails to different email addresses. It's a great way to segment different people into different groups and Franklin makes it super simple too, no need to over complicate things.

Video 8: Setting Up Correct Settings


Are you aware of your legal obligations when sending out emails? If not then you'll want to pay close attention to this video as it shows you how to setup your organizational settings before mailing. 


It also covers setting up the footer of emails, unsubscribe links etc.

Video 9: Setting Up Your Flow


A flow is an action or sequence that will occur when someone's email address is added to the platform from say an abandoned checkout or a new customer. You can then choose what and when to send emails to them.


Franklin goes through the process of creating your very first contact flow and breaks everything down, how it works and all the different features available to you. 

One of the coolest features is the ability to choose how long to delay the first email after they have subscribed.

Video 10: Sending Out Newsletters


Now you don't need to just create flows, you can always send out scheduled broadcasts or newsletters to your contacts and in this video Franklin goes through the process of creating one and sending this out. 


Frank then shows you how to save these as templates so you can use them again in the future, nice!

Video 11: Warming Up Leads


There's no point collecting an email address and doing nothing with it, so Franklin shows you how to warm up potential leads with various different techniques.

Video 12: Get Better Open Rates


Why would someone open your email vs the thousands of other emails they receive too? Franklin shows you some of the best conversion focused subject lines to get people to open your emails. He also shows you how to avoid the spam filter and get your emails delivered to the normal inbox.


Real life examples are included so you can see what you should be doing.

My Final Verdict


If like me, you've never considered email for your business it's a great module. I had struggled for years to really understand how to setup email sequences and target those visitors who failed to checkout. I was leaving money on the table. Thankfully this module was a real eye opener for me, and I'm sure it will be for you too. 


The 12 videos are detailed and provide over the shoulder training with Franklin using his computer screen to emphasis key points and you can follow along easily. 


Franklin will show you how to:
