Do you want a simple business model that converts like crazy? If so then checkout this mini guide I created for you which goes out and finds all those businesses using Woocommerce and then converts them into paid Shopify clients. I’ve seen other marketers doing this for many months and it works!
It’s a simple way to make money with Woocommerce.
WordPress.org recently said that over 30% of the internet is using WordPress and of those WP sites, nearly 30% are running Woocommerce, which is the free shopping cart software available.
The problem is that Woocommerce is a pain in the ass for most beginners that have no idea what they’re actually doing. If you want to customize the platform you’ll need to spend hundreds of dollars on plugins or have a web developer actually fix the problem for you. Shopify and a premium theme doesn’t actually require such.
Firstly you need to find a way to get a list of all Woocommerce stores on the web. The best way I found to get a list of all Woocommerce stores was to head over to Ecomidata and purchase their one time access plan.
There are many other platforms that offer much updated data including Builtwith.com and if you want to perform this method correctly you will need a subscription with Builtwith which costs $500 per month.
You’ll now have access to every Woocommerce store (correct as of your time of purchase) and this includes any data that was scraped from those stores such as email addresses.
Now you need a platform to bulk email send to these email addresses. All these emails were available in the public domain so there’s no issue emailing them your offer. Find yourself an email bulk sending tool.
You have a few options here,
- Create a landing page and showcase Shopify/theme
- Promote Shopify affiliate program
- Promote premium Shopify themes.
Create Landing Page
There are many landing page creators out there, I’ve written about Instapage which would be my landing page creator of choice however there are others such as Leadpages and Unbounce.
Simply showcase the benefits of converting to Shopify and using a premium theme. Maybe you could recommend eCom Turbo or Booster Theme. You could offer a free migration service and then simply use Woo Importer.
Promote Shopify Affiliate Program
I’m not a huge fan of Shopify’s affiliate program as they give some marketers a 21 day or 31 day trial and others a 14 day trial which is extremely annoying when it comes to promoting to new leads.
However your Woocommerce store owners probably won’t know these longer trials exist and will jump on your 14 day free trial. Again you could create a landing page and offer an incentive to sign up or simply 302 redirect them to the Shopify website.
Promote Woocommerce Themes
So maybe these leads have a great business on Woocommerce and have no aspirations to change to Shopify then you need to think outside the box. You could promote premium themes and take a commission.
Simply email them with something such as, ‘Your theme sucks..’ or ‘Increase Your Conversions’ and then recommend your affiliate theme for them to checkout. Again use a landing page for better conversions.
Blast Your Email
You’d be a fool to download 50,000 emails and blast an email out to all these people so make sure you use a service to clean your email list and ensure the emails are fully working. Zerobounce or Neverbounce are some good options.
Then signup with a mailing provider and start mailing. Your recipients are already warm as you know they are active store owners and may need your service.
Ecomidata and Builtwith both offer most e-commerce platforms out there so this could work with Magento, Wix, Square and dozens of other platforms too.
