- SamCart Review: The Best Clickfunnels Alternative? - October 26, 2017
If you’re looking for the best sales page funnel builders on the web you’ve come to the right place. Over the last few months I’ve had the pleasure (and misery) of testing pretty much every solution on the market to find the right all in one solution for my online business.
If you’re getting started with internet marketing and ready to create your first funnel it’s often daunting to see so many solutions being recommended. It doesn’t help that all the major funnel builders offer an affiliate program of 30-50% so many marketers will simply push you to signup as they’ll receive recurring monthly commissions.

This sophisticated landing page builder at heart has come a long way in recent years and it’s definitely possible to create an entire funnel using their platform. Featuring over 200 conversion optimised templates, the standout feature is their web based editor is far superior to any other funnel builder on the list. The response time is pretty damn good, you can drag and drop anywhere and add a ton of features.
Integrating with email providers (unfortunately no membership platforms) is super fast and they include one click adding of Google Analytics and other tracking scripts should you wish. Heat maps built in by default and A/B split testing are available on most plans.
One of the best added functionality is you can purchase additional templates from Themeforest with 1 click upload. So you can get an additional 50-75 templates for only $10-$20 each.
Creating a funnel in Instapage can be daunting to begin with, you need to create individual pages and link them together manually. You’ll find copying pages a piece of cake, and you can easily integrate all pages into WordPress or simply use a free sub domain or mask your own domain.
The downside to Instapage is that they don’t have a credit card facility, to accept Stripe or Paypal payments will cost you an additional $20 per month using a third party plugin. This also means you can’t use 1 click upsells, a bit disappointment if you’re creating a conversion funnel. If you’re selling a one time product then it’s definitely a good platform.
If you want to get started with Instapage you’ll need to fork out a minimum of $76 a month (there’s a discount for yearly accounts). Many reviews out there have their old pricing, recently they boosted the price by 20%.
If you’re building a membership site then Samcart is the perfect solution for accepting credit card payments or Paypal and providing instant access to your members. Want to sell them something else? You can add up to 6 upsells and downsells with 1 click functionality.
Over the past few weeks I’ve successfully setup an automated membership site using Optimizemember and Samcart. If you’d rather use another membership platform then they support most of the major ones such as Wishlist, Member Mouse, Fastmember and DAP. There is a ton of email marketing integrations too including Aweber, Mailchimp and Getresponse.
If you’re not selling memberships then you can easily sell physical products, ebooks and other digital downloads. Samcart can handle the entire delivery process for digital goods or provide you with shipping details for physical products.
Creating a funnel on Samcart isn’t easy especially if you want to create more than a few bullet points and the default fields. There is a template called ‘No Header Salespage’ which allows you to upload images to create a fully customizable sales page, upsell page and downsell. If you’re looking for a ton of default templates then you’re going to be out of luck with Samcart.
With the downside of templates out the way, a large number of marketers use Samcart as a gateway between a WordPress sales page and their checkout success page. If you are technical then this is definitely the way to go.
With a price point of $19/mo for basic features you’ll need the $99/mo plan if you want to use the upsell features. There’s also a cool 1 page funnel template you’ll get too alongside advanced reporting. If you need an affiliate program or cancellation recovery services you’ll need to checkout their $199/mo plan.
One of Russell Brunsons best products yet, he’s been in the marketing game for years and certainly delivered. Clickfunnels is so popular because they offer generous commissions and a jam packed affiliate marketing course on how to retire in 100 days. If you’d rather use Clickfunnels than promote it, it’s one of the best funnel builders.
You’ll get a 14 day free trial to test out the 50+ templates that are freely available in the members area. You can also use funnels other marketers have shared publicly or purchase additional ones from $47-$197. There is literally templates for every niche you could imagine, free + shipping, book delivery, consulting, webinars and membership courses.
Clickfunnels integrates with most major membership platforms including Optimizemembers, Wishlist, Member Mouse and DAP. They also integrate with most of the major email marketing tools such as Aweber, Getresponse and Mailchimp. You can also capture emails and leads directly into Clickfunnels if you don’t have an email followup sequence.
One of the best features about Clickfunnels is their integration with Stripe and Paypal allowing for fast front end payments with true one click upsells on your OTO pages. You can quickly copy pages and re-edit them to built large funnels in a matter of minutes. Speaking of their pages, while the web editor is fairly quick it does lag at times and isn’t as smooth as Instapage. However you are getting far more functionality than Instapage for a similar price.
Clickfunnels currently comes at two price points, $97 a month for the most popular plan which includes 20 funnels, 100 pages and 20,000 visitors per month. You can only have 3 custom domains which is why you see so many XXXX.clickfunnels.com url’s floatng around.
If you hit the limit on these, you’ll need to upgrade to the $297/month plan which includes unlimited features as well as a powerful affiliate program.
Unlike the other builders mentioned above, Clickfunnels has a fairly popular Facebook group called ‘Clickfunnel Avengers’ which offers insightful help into building successful funnels. I’d recommend checking it out if your on the fence.
It makes sense to talk about this funnel builder straight after Clickfunnels as it’s a very similar service, both in terms of price but features and functionality too. Owned and run by Mark Thompson, another powerhouse in the IM world, it’s often overlooked by marketers heading for the Clickfunnels bandwagon.
It’s unclear how many templates you actually get as they’re constantly adding new ones, as of right now it’s around 100 templates with an emphasis on the usual sales page, webinar, membership, free+shipping templates.
The web editor at Digital Kickstart is straight forward and it uses a similar backend to alot of other marketing products. It’s simple yet fully functional and while it’s a little slow at times, it’s definitely easy to work with.
One of the features that sets them apart is their integration with teachable which is a powerful membership offer for those looking to create membership sites without knowing the technical jargon behind the implementation.
On the payments integration front, they integrate with a company called EasyPayDirect which specializes in high risk businesses and offers credit card processing. If you’ve been blocked by Paypal or Stripe (both these are offered too) then this is a company to checkout.
The funnels work well with true one click upsells and downsells so you can ensure your revenue per sale goes up.
A less flashy sales page and no affiliate training, but a rather useful blog, they offer a free trial as well and then pricing starts at $99/month which includes everything, there’s no upsell to another plan like Clickfunnels.
If you’ve been marketing for a while you’ll know Leadpages is one of the oldest solutions on the market. With that said don’t be put off, they are constantly updating and launching new features to their offering.
With a focus more on landing pages rather than funnels you can still create perfectly useable funnels with a little bit of work. If you want to accept payments through their platform you’ll need their advanced plan which is $79/month. You can easily copy pages to get funnels up and running quickly and they do offer one click upsell landing pages too.
When I was testing Leadpages I was solely disappointed with their real time drag n drop editor. I was so confused as to what it was constantly lagging and taking up to 5 seconds before something would actually move that I upgraded my browser, used a different browser and finally a different laptop to prove it wasn’t my problem.
After hearing so much about Leadpages I couldn’t believe how slow the web editor actually was, needless to say I couldn’t work with their platform and quickly left.
If you do decide to check them out they have a ton of templates for you to choose from, with additional templates available from places such as Themeforest ranging from $10-$30. They integrate with most membership sites, email providers and webinar platforms.
Many of the heavyweights in online marketing are still actively using Leadpages so if you can deal with the slow editor, it’s definitely a company to checkout, it’s 20% cheaper than most of the other platforms on this list.
After so many hosted platforms it makes sense to include one of the greatest WordPress themes and plugins created for interner marketers. For years, marketers have been building membership sites using this platform and considering it costs $97 once for 3 sites it’s an absolute bargain! You get a full 12 months of support and training with each purchase too.
Installing the plugin is a piece of cake using WordPress’ one click installer. You then install the theme and activate this through your dashboard too. You’ll get 25+ templates for a wide range of uses including landing pages, sales pages, membership pages, webinars and consulting. Additional templates can be bought in their marketplace from $9-$39.
It would be fair to say the primary use of Optimizepress is for digital goods only, you’d have a great deal of problems running a free+shipping or product delivery service with this platform.
Optimizepress is sometimes refered to as Optimizemember which is the membership content locking side of WordPress. You can restrict access to pages based on membership levels. To join a membership level visitors must subscribe to a plan, payments are made through Paypal or Stripe (if you want 1 click upsells). You can also integrate with Clickbank, JVZoo and Authorize.net.
If you want to take advantage of the 1 click upsells you’ll need to ensure your website is running the latest version of PHP and you’ve got yourself an SSL certificate and ensure it’s turned on for your entire site (do this through htaccess).
The web editor on Optimizepress is divine, so smooth and easy to drag and drop. There is a wealth of features you can add with a single click and for those looking for extras you can upgrade to a club member.
If you’re a technical user and are familiar with WordPress, this is definitely a platform to checkout. You’ll save yourself a fortune (up to $1200 a year) compared with Clickfunnels. If you’re looking for ease of use and done for you hosting, this isn’t the platform for you.
10 Minute Funnels
Until recently I’d never heard of this platform although it’s been around for a few years already. I saw a review bashing Clickfunnels and recommending this company instead. The price is very similar, a free 14 day trial with a price tag of $97 a month for the service. The platform looks very similar to Clickfunnels.
First impressions count and 10minutefunnels was very unclear about what you actually get in terms of templates and features. The sales page is far too short for a service that charges such a high price tag.
Regardless pushing on they offer templates for all the usual pages including landing, sales, webinar, thankyou and checkout pages. They also offer 1 click upsells and integrate with Paypal and Stripe as well as 10 additional payment methods including Clickbank, JVZoo, Authorize.net, Amazon and Infusionsoft.
They integrate with all the major email marketing solutions including Aweber, Mailchimp, Getresponse and they’ve created a custom addon so you can integrate with smaller email providers using a custom code.
Can you really build a funnel in 10 minutes? Not quite but you can definitely build a landing page in 10 minutes. Slightly misleading as they do say in the FAQ section themselves.
If you’re a marketer who is looking for all the features of Clickfunnels in an unlimited no holds barred solution then 10 Minute Funnels is definitely a platform you should checkout.
It’s highly unlikely you’ve ever head of this platform and neither had I until one of my readers asked for advice on what I thought of this funnel builder. With no advice to give, I decided to check it out.
The platform is primarily a landing page creator however you can certainly still create an entire funnel using their platform and with access to 125 templates you’ll get started quickly. The templates actually look pretty darn good and include sales pages, landing pages, webinars, training, download and thank you pages.
All pages are responsive, easily editable and shareable in a matter of minutes, you can report on pages using their advanced reporter quickly too. Pages can be integrated with most email providers including Aweber, iContact, Infusionsoft, Getresponse, Mailchimp and Mad Mimi.
While you can’t do anything fancy such as membership creation or shipping real products, they do offer instant delivery of digital products to validated Paypal email addresses. With that said there’s no 1 click upsells and no credit card integration with companies such as Stripe.
With a price point of only $49 a month Megaphone is a good option, if you don’t need the credit card features or membership options this is a good funnel builder. I have a feeling most of you will get too bored at the limitations rather quickly. Marketers found a way to deliver Paypal products automatically 15 years ago so it’s not new technology by any means.
I’ve left Unbounce until last as it’s technically not a funnel builder and only a landing page creator however with some work and technical know how you can definitely turn their pages into successful funnels.
The price point usually puts a lot of people off at $99/month – bit pricey for a landing page creator but they do pack a ton of features and their web editor is one of the best on the market, similar to Instapage.
Additional templates are widely available on Themeforest where there’s a thriving market for third party templates, some of them are really good too costing $10-$40. If you’d like to stick with Unbounce’ default templates you’ll get access to around 125 templates.
If you do wish to accept payments on your Unbounce pages you’ll need a third party plugin such as Infusionsoft or Thrivecart, both of which aren’t cheap! There’s actually a good post over on their forums that explains the process.
At $99 a month you’re paying a small fortune to create a funnel with Unbounce so my recommendation is to use it for landing pages only and let Samcart or Clickfunnels handle your checkout pages.
After reviewing and using the best sales page funnel builders over the past few months I can say the best companies to use are Instapage, Samcart and Clickfunnels. If you’re technical and want to create true 1 page funnels then Samcart takes the cake for the best one page funnel builder. If you want to create professional yet elegant sales funnels then Instapage is your go too. If you want to follow the crowd and join a community of marketers then Clickfunnels is definitely the choice of platform.
